Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court
Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court is a top student competition in investment arbitration held in Frankfurt. It began in 2007 (the first edition was in 2008) and is considered one of the grand slam moots—the oldest in its field. It is co-organised by the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Normally, each university may send one team (with India and China as exceptions in some contexts). Pre-moots are organized by the ICC, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, and the European Court of Arbitration. Written submissions must be skeletal briefs and do not affect progression, and there is no prize for written work. The competition typically features three preliminary rounds; the top 16 advance to knockout rounds, with a prize for the best oralist in the final. Each round is judged by three arbitrators. The 2020 edition was cancelled due to COVID-19, and the 2021 and 2022 editions were held online. Record participation includes 66 teams in 2017 and 105 online teams in 2022. The Singapore Management University has won the most championships (3). Website: http://www.investmentmoot.org/vte
