Bodensee S-Bahn
Bodensee S-Bahn is not a single train line. It is an umbrella branding for a group of cross‑border rail services around Lake Constance, serving Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The services use the Lake Constance Belt Railway (Bodenseegürtelbahn) and other connecting lines. Most trains marketed as Bodensee S-Bahn belong to different networks, but they are coordinated in timetable and ticketing to make traveling around the lake easier.
As of April 2024, about 30 lines are marketed under Bodensee S-Bahn. They are operated by a mix of companies from three countries, including ÖBB (Austria), SBB (Switzerland), DB Regio (Germany), SOB, THURBO, AB (Appenzell Railways), Arverio, SWEG and SBB GmbH, among others.
The network connects towns such as Lindau, Bregenz, Dornbirn, Feldkirch, Konstanz, Kreuzlingen, Romanshorn, St. Gallen, Rorschach, Wil, and Sargans. In addition to trains, Bodensee S-Bahn services often link with ferries across the lake, and the Bodensee Ticket covers trains, ferries and some buses with one ticket.
