Blue Army (Aerosmith)
Blue Army is Aerosmith’s nickname for their loyal fans. The term came about around 1975. “Blue” refers to the fans’ blue jeans and blue-collar image, while “Army” shows their loyalty, youthfulness, and tough vibe.
Guitarist Joe Perry described the fans as a line of long-haired guys in blue denim—“an army of blue jeans. Our people.” He also noted it was mostly guys then. The idea of a hard-working, devoted fan army showed up in the press too; a 1976 Rolling Stone piece called fans “a boozy army of hard hats.”
Today the term is still used informally for Aerosmith’s fan base. The band’s official fan club is Aero Force One. In 2015, they even named a concert tour “The Blue Army Tour” to honor their fans.
