Bloomfield Township, Logan County, Ohio
Bloomfield Township is a rural area in western Logan County, Ohio. It’s mostly flat farmland with a few clusters of trees. The township covers about 23 square miles and sits at about 1,000 feet above sea level. As of 2020, 417 people lived there, making it the smallest township in Logan County.
There are no towns inside Bloomfield Township. It borders several neighboring townships. State Route 274 runs through its northern part, providing the main road in the area.
Bloomfield Township was organized in 1832. It is one of several Bloomfield Townships in Ohio (others are in Jackson and Trumbull counties).
Government is by a three-member board of trustees and an elected township fiscal officer. Trustees are elected in November of odd-numbered years to four-year terms; two are chosen after presidential elections and one before. The fiscal officer is elected to a four-year term beginning April 1 following the election held in November before a presidential election. If a vacancy occurs, the remaining trustees fill it.
