Binny and the Ghost
Binny and the Ghost, known in the UK as Billie and the Ghost, is a German crime-mystery TV series for kids and teens. Created by Steffi Ackermann and Vivien Hoppe, the show follows 13-year-old Binny who moves from Hamburg to an old villa in Berlin. There she meets Melchior, a 14-year-old ghost who has been stuck in the living world for over a century and doesn’t understand the modern world.
Binny and Melchior team up to uncover Melchior’s past and help him be free. Together they often solve crimes and help both living people and other trapped ghosts. They’re also pursued by Watch Hunters, who want to keep the truth about magical watches and the spirit world hidden.
The series was produced by UFA Fiction for Disney Channel Germany. It has two seasons with 23 episodes in total, each about 23–26 minutes. The first episode aired on March 23, 2013, and the final episode on May 15, 2016. The show later moved to Disney+, where Season 1 and 2 became available in 2020. In South Africa, Disney+ added the series in 2022. The UK version is titled Billie and the Ghost. The series has not been released in the United States or Canada.
