Agathon Meurman
Agathon Meurman (9 October 1826 – 17 January 1909) was a Finnish politician and journalist. He was a leading figure in the Fennoman movement and, from 1863, together with Yrjö Sakari Yrjö-Koskinen, led the Finnish Party. From 1883 to 1890 he published the first Finnish-language encyclopedia, Sanakirja yleiseen sivistykseen kuuluvia tietoja varten, which was largely based on the German Meyers Encyclopedia. He was born in Kangasala and died in Helsinki.
