Bienal de Arte de Ponce
Bienal de Arte de Ponce is a biennial international art exhibition held in Ponce, Puerto Rico. It takes place every two years, usually from November into February, and is organized by the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce’s Commission on the Arts. The event happens at the Adelina Coppin Alvarado Library on the UPR Ponce campus. It began in 1986 as a local show and has grown into an international event with artists from Puerto Rico, the United States, and the Dominican Republic. In the 14th edition (2014–2015), more than 120 artists displayed works in many media, including painting, sculpture, watercolor, drawing, mixed media, and digital art. Each edition often honors a visual artist. The Bienal de Arte de Ponce is widely regarded as Puerto Rico’s most important art biennial. It should not be confused with the Bienal Municipal de Arte de Ponce, which is organized by the city government and occurs in alternate years.
