Bethany Congregational Church is a historic Congregational church located at 18 Spear Street in downtown Quincy, Massachusetts, near the Thomas Crane Public Library. The Gothic Revival stone building was completed in 1927 for a congregation that was established in 1832. It was designed by J. Williams Beal, Sons, who also designed nearby Granite Trust Company buildings. The Granite Trust Company donated the land for the church after its previous 1870 building was torn down in the 1920s to make way for the granite office block.

The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 as part of the Quincy Multiple Property Submission.

Description: The church is a roughly T-shaped stone structure with a tall square tower at the right corner. The main facade features a recessed entrance beneath an arch, with an elaborate multi-part stained-glass window above. The sides show buttresses and three-part Gothic windows, while the tower has three-part windows below a pinnacled parapet.

History: The congregation began in 1832. Its second building (1870) was removed in the 1920s to build the Granite Trust Company’s nearby structure, and the current church was built on this site in 1927.

Services are held every Sunday at 9:30 AM. All are welcome. Website: www.bethanycongchurch.org.
