Minding Frankie is a 2010 novel by Irish author Maeve Binchy. Emily Lynch comes from America to a Dublin neighborhood called St. Jarlath Crescent, where she helps the people she meets.

The main story follows her cousin Noel, an alcoholic who still lives at home. A dying girlfriend tells him she is pregnant with his baby, a fact he struggles to remember. Noel decides to raise the child, with help from family and friends, including characters from Binchy’s earlier books Heart and Soul and Scarlet Feather.

The book shows that life is better when people, communities, and governments work together to care for those in trouble. It also brings modern themes like email, text messaging, job loss, recession, addiction, cancer, and paternity testing.

Shay Linehan adapted the novel for a 2017 stage play.
