Bedsider
Bedsider.org is a free online support network for birth control for women ages 18–29. It’s run by The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, a nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., that started in November 2011. Its goal is to help women find the birth control method that’s right for them and learn how to use it well.
The project is developed with IDEO and Carbon Five. Bedsider lets you explore and compare birth control methods, set reminders for taking contraception or scheduling visits, and watch videos of real people sharing their experiences with different methods. It also has a weekly column on sex, love, and life, plus animated shorts that debunk birth control myths. You can get the latest contraception news and use a ZIP code tool to find nearby places that offer OTC contraception. Bedsider works on mobile devices, including iPhone and Android.
In November 2011, an Ad Council campaign was launched to support Bedsider across media outlets like TV, print, and online. Bedsider has won design awards and has been covered by media such as the Associated Press and CNN. It is supported by many medical and public health groups, and all medical content is created with experts from The National Campaign’s Medical Advisory Committee.
