Setzer Gabbiani is a charismatic gambler and one of the main characters in Final Fantasy VI (1994). He runs the Blackjack, an airship casino, and is famous for his calm, stylish personality. In the story, he initially plans to kidnap the opera star the group is pursuing, but he is won over to the heroes’ side after realizing the Gestahlian Empire’s threat to his way of life. He joins the party, driven by his own desires and a growing sense of justice.

Setzer’s backstory centers on a fierce race of airships with his late friend Darill. After Darill dies in an accident, Setzer discovers her tomb later in the adventure and reveals how he rebuilt her ship to honor her memory.
