- In 2011, a disagreement over prayer at graduation drew attention. Senior Damon Fowler objected to prayer, and the ACLU asked the school not to include a prayer. During the graduation events, a rehearsal prayer by Sarah Barlow mentioned Jesus, and at the ceremony, Laci Rae Mattice led the Lord’s Prayer before a moment of silence. The school said Mattice was told not to include a prayer, and Fowler said his objections led to social ostracism.
