Vishka (film)

Vishka is a 2017 Maldivian crime film directed by Ravee Farooq. Produced by Aishath Rishmy for Yaaraa Productions, it stars Ravee Farooq, Aishath Rishmy, and Ahmed Saeed. The story is by Abdulla Wisham and the screenplay by Mahdi Ahmed. The film runs 130 minutes and is in Dhivehi.

Development and production details:
The first draft of the screenplay was finished in 2013 and was rewritten more than ten times before the final version in 2015. Pre-production lasted two months. Madhoship handled all technical work, and Hussain Anees was the makeup artist (their first film in these roles). Several new actors appear in supporting roles. Noora Rasheedh was the stylist, and Riffath designed outfits for the lead.

Release and reception:
Yaaraa Productions announced the film on 30 May 2016, releasing its first look poster and a teaser. It was planned for release with Schwack Cinema. The first look generated positive hype, and critics responded well to the teaser, with Ahmed Nadheem of Avas praising its suspense.

Release date: 8 May 2017.
