Bakht Baidar
Bakht Baidar Khan (1 January 1950 – 17 June 2022) was a Pakistani social worker and politician from Dir Lower, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He served as a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from 2013 until his death in 2022. He was the secretary general of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP). In the May 2013 general elections, he won the PK-97 (Dir Lower-IV) seat with 10,912 votes, defeating a Jamaat-e-Islami candidate who received 7,528 votes.
He took oath as a minister in the PTI-led provincial government on 13 June 2013 but was sacked in November 2013 for poor performance. The QWP accused PTI of protecting its own ministers and said it would stay in opposition.
His guest house was targeted in several attacks, with the deadliest occurring on Eid Ul Fitr 2014. Six people were killed and four were wounded, including Bakht Baidar’s brother Muhammad Ishaq and two policemen. The funeral prayers for the dead were held on Eid, turning the day into mourning.
