Australian lager
Australian lager is pale lager brewed in Australia. The style began in Europe in the mid-1800s and arrived in Australia with German immigrants. Generally, pale lagers are lightly hopped and sometimes use adjuncts like rice or corn, a pattern seen in Australia too. Well-known Australian lagers include XXXX, Tooheys brands, Victoria Bitter (listed as a lager), West End Draught, Swan, Young Henrys, and Foster's Lager. Some Australian lagers have an amber color and a mildly bitter taste, often brewed with Pride of Ringwood hops or similar varieties.
