Dedicato a mio padre
Dedicato a mio padre is a studio album by Italian singer Mina, released in December 1967 by PDU and distributed by Durium. It was recorded on December 14, 1967, and runs 36 minutes and 8 seconds. The songs are in English, Italian and Spanish, and the music blends pop and jazz. In Mina’s discography, it follows 4 anni di successi (1967) and precedes Mina alla Bussola dal vivo (1968).
In December 1967, Mina and her father Giacomo Mazzini opened their own record label, PDU (Platten Durcharbeitung Ultraphone), in Lugano, Switzerland, to gain independent creative control. Dedicato a mio padre was one of the first releases on PDU.
In 2018, Giorgio Moltisanti of Rolling Stone ranked the album sixth among Mina’s most underrated works, saying it represents an artistic peak that didn’t sell well, similar to Dusty in Memphis, which gained recognition later. The credits for the album come from the liner notes.
