August Kluckhohn
August Kluckhohn (1832–1893) was a German historian born in Bavenhausen, Lippe. He studied at Heidelberg under Ludwig Häusser and at Göttingen, where he was influenced by Georg Waitz. In 1858 he moved to Munich to edit the critical section of Sybel's Historische Zeitschrift. He became an history lecturer at the University of Munich in 1860 and was promoted to associate professor in 1865. In 1869 he was named a full professor of history at the Munich Polytechnic School. In 1883 he returned to Göttingen to succeed Reinhold Pauli. His writings include several biographies for the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie.
