Ingo Kindervater
Ingo Kindervater (born 1 January 1979 in Burgwedel, West Germany) is a retired German badminton player and the Head of Performance for Badminton Scotland. He is tall and played right-handed, competing mainly in men’s and mixed doubles. His best world rankings were No. 11 in men’s doubles (28 April 2011) and No. 49 in mixed doubles (10 June 2010).
Career highlights
- European Championships: bronze medals in men’s doubles in 2008 (with Kristof Hopp) and 2010 (with Michael Fuchs).
- 2012 London Olympics: qualified with Johannes Schöttler; they were ranked 18th in the world during qualification.
- 2012 Bitburger Open: won the men’s doubles title with Johannes Schöttler, defeating Chris Langridge and Peter Mills 21–15, 21–11.
After retiring in 2013, Kindervater earned a diploma in Economics and became the National Doubles Coach for the German Badminton Association. He also supported the German Olympic team as a coach at Rio 2016. In 2022 he moved to Edinburgh to take the role of Head of Performance with Badminton Scotland.
