Myoglossata
Myoglossata is a small group (clade) inside the butterflies and moths (the order Lepidoptera) and their larger suborder Glossata. It includes the family Neopseustidae and the clade Neolepidoptera.
Key features:
- Members have intrinsic mouthparts with special galeal muscles.
- These intrinsic galeal muscles are unique to Myoglossata and developed after the galeae changed to form the sucking mouthparts.
