Astringin is a natural plant compound in the stilbenoid family. It is the 3-β-D-glucoside of piceatannol, meaning a glucose molecule is attached to piceatannol. Astringin is found in the bark of Norway spruce trees (Picea sitchensis and Picea abies) and also in grape (Vitis vinifera) cell cultures and in wine. Its chemical formula is C20H22O9 and its molar mass is about 406.39 g/mol.
