Araschnia davidis is a butterfly in the browns family (Nymphalidae). It lives in the Palearctic region, mainly in Tibet and western to central China, including East Tibet (Moupin). The species was named in honour of Armand David and described by Poujade in 1885.

What it looks like: The forewings have reddish-yellow bands on a dark background. The hindwings feature a broad reddish-brown outer band with a central black spot and several other black spots. The underside is reddish-brown with pale veins and lighter bands. There are some whitish spots near the forewing tip and a row of black-edged white dots near the hindwing tip. The wing edges show a few dark lines.
