Partial lunar eclipse on April 5, 2099

A partial lunar eclipse happens when part of the Moon moves into Earth’s shadow, darkening but not vanishing completely.

- The Moon will pass through Earth's shadow about 1.4 days after its closest approach to Earth, so it may look a bit larger.
- Visibility: Fully visible from North America, western South America, and the central/eastern Pacific Ocean. It will be seen rising over northeast Asia and Australia and setting over eastern South America.
- Duration: The partial phase lasts about 88 minutes; the faint outer shading (penumbral phase) lasts about 258 minutes.
