West Papua football team

The West Papua football team represents the western part of New Guinea, which is part of Indonesia. They are not part of FIFA and play under ConIFA, an organization for teams outside FIFA.

Nicknames for the team include Oranje, Zwart, Blauw (Orange, Black, and Blue) and Tjenderawasih (Birds of Paradise).

The West Papua Football Association was founded in 2017. It became a full member of ConIFA on 25 January 2020. The team has a history with the NF-Board and UNPO Cup.

In 2005, West Papua played in the UNPO Cup in The Hague, drawing 1–1 with South Moluccas before losing on penalties. They had been listed to participate in the 2006 VIVA World Cup but withdrew. After a long break, they returned in 2019 with a friendly against East Turkestan.

Their home matches have often taken place in The Hague, Netherlands. Notable results include a 22–0 win against Katanga in The Hague on 23 October 2021, and a 2–10 defeat to Tamil Eelam on 21 December 2019.

Current staff includes head coach Garry llina, and the team’s top scorer is Rudy Gell de la Cruz with 2 goals.
