The Luigi G. Napolitano Award is given every year at the International Astronautical Congress. It honors Luigi Gerardo Napolitano, an engineer, scientist and professor. Since 1993, the award goes to a young scientist under 30 who has made an important contribution to aerospace science and has presented a paper about that work at the Congress. The Napolitano family donates the award, which includes a commemorative medal and a certificate. It is presented by the IAF’s Education Committee. The International Academy of Astronautics also gives the Luigi Napolitano Book Award each year.
