Angel: A Maximum Ride Novel is the seventh book in James Patterson’s Maximum Ride series. It was published on February 14, 2011, in the United States. The story follows Max, the leader of a group of genetically engineered kids called the Flock. After Fang leaves, Max feels depressed but meets a new ally, Dylan. Jeb and Dylan’s father, Dr. Gunther-Hagen, arrive and say Max should lead Gen 77, the next generation of mutants, and that Max and Dylan are meant to be mates and rule together, though Max’s mother, Dr. Martinez, doesn’t agree.

Meanwhile, Fang starts his own group of mutant teens, including Maya, a former villain clone who has become part of his team. There is romantic tension between Fang and Maya. The Flock visits Gen-77, but their plane is attacked and Gunther-Hagen disappears. Max and Dylan grow closer.

They also learn about a school filled with mutants called many-eyed snipers who think mutants should kill humans to improve the world. They learn about the Doomsday Group, a cult that brainwashes people. Ella and Iggy are affected, but the Flock manages to deprogram Iggy. Jeb and Dr. Martinez vanish, and the Flock begins to suspect they are involved with the Doomsday Group.

In California, Fang’s group faces trouble, and Fang grows closer to Maya. The Doomsday Group plans to attend a convention in San Diego. Max’s group and Fang’s group clash over new relationships, then they fly to Paris to stop the Doomsday Group from blowing up the city. They warn people and try to disarm the bombs. The bombs go off, and the youngest Flock member, Angel, is missing and presumed dead. The groups part ways.

In the epilogue, Angel is revealed to be alive and is in the custody of scientists who want to experiment on her. The book received mostly negative reviews.
