William Burr Cochran

William Burr Cochran (July 9, 1863 – July 2, 1931) was an American Army general who served as a brigadier general in World War I. He was born in Middleburg, Virginia, to John Henry and Charlotte Cochran. He attended the Virginia Military Institute and finished in 1888. Cochran enlisted in the Fifth Infantry on September 11, 1892, and became a second lieutenant on March 28, 1896. He served in the Spanish–American War and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He died on July 2, 1931, and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. His papers are kept at the Archives of the Virginia Military Institute.
