Lee Jae-gap
Lee Jae-gap (also spelled Lee Jae-kap), born March 27, 1958, in Gwangju, is an independent South Korean politician and public servant. He served as Minister of Employment and Labor from September 21, 2018, to May 6, 2021, under President Moon Jae-in. Earlier in his career, he was the deputy head of the ministry (2012–2013) under President Lee Myung-bak and led the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service under President Park Geun-hye.
After passing the national civil service exam in 1983, Lee spent most of his career in public service at the ministry. He holds three degrees: a Bachelor’s in Public Administration from Korea University, a Master’s in Public Administration from Seoul National University, and a Doctorate in Labour Relations from Michigan State University.
