DJ Brian Rikhotso, born January 1, 1980 in Soweto, South Africa, is a radio DJ and entrepreneur. He grew up in Bolobedu, Limpopo, and studied journalism at Technikon Pretoria (now Tshwane University of Technology). He started at Munghana Lonene FM in 2000 as a stand-in presenter, eventually hosting the African World Music Show Mindhzumba ya Afrika. He later presented Vaxumi (2003) and earned a breakfast slot in 2005. After leaving in 2007, he returned in 2008 to co-host Phaphama with Sydney Baloyi, with producer Tebogo Magubane joining in 2009. He moved to Afternoon Drive until 2015, then went back to breakfast, and in 2018 began hosting the Midday show Dzumba na Mina. He was the station’s first Presenter of the Year at age 23 for two weekend programs and helped introduce a new mix of African music to listeners. Rikhotso has released three albums and featured on tracks such as Bafikile in 2014. He has a strong social media presence and in 2021 became the social media manager for Marumo Gallants FC. He was named Limpopo Sports Awards’ Sports Photographer of the Year for 2024 (awarded January 2025). Rikhotso was arrested in February 2007, but the case was dismissed for lack of evidence. He hosts the Phaphama Breakfast Show on Munghana Lonene FM, airing 06:00–09:00 weekdays.
