Ancylis uncella
Ancylis uncella is a small moth in the Tortricidae family. It was first described in 1775 by Michael Denis and Ignaz Schiffermüller.
What it looks like
- Wingspan: about 15–20 mm.
- Forewings: reddish-brown with two grey spots on the back edge and light lines along the front edge.
- Hindwings: pale brown.
Where it lives
- This moth is native to much of the Palearctic region, including Europe, and is also found in North America.
What it eats
- The larvae (caterpillars) feed on birch species (Betula) and on Calluna vulgaris (heather).
When you’ll see it
- The moths fly in May and June.
