Alexander Davidovich Nakashidze
Alexander Davidovich Nakashidze (Georgian: ალექსანდრე ნაკაშიძე; Russian: Александр Давидович Накашидзе) (1837–25 September 1905) was a Georgian nobleman from the Gurian Nakashidze family who served as a general in the Russian Imperial Army. He joined the army in 1853 and rose to General of the Cavalry, commanding cavalry and mixed forces in the Elisabethpol Governorate. He fought in the Crimean War, the Caucasian War (where he achieved decisive victories against rebels), and the Russo-Turkish War of 1877. His son, Mikhail Alexandrovich Nakashidze, designed one of the first armored cars to be used by Russia, around the time of the Russo-Japanese War. Nakashidze received numerous decorations, including the Gold Sword for Bravery, the Orders of Saint Vladimir (three times), Saint Anna (two times), Saint Stanislaus (three times), Saint George (two times), the Order of the White Eagle, and the Order of the Lion and the Sun (Grand Cross, Chevalier and Commander).
