Aleksandër Xhuvani University is a higher education institution in Elbasan, Albania. It has five faculties: Natural Sciences, Humanities, Economics, Educational Sciences, and Medical and Technical Sciences. The rector is Prof. Dr. Skënder Topi. The university traces its roots to the Elbasan Normal School, founded on December 1, 1909—the first Albanian-language vocational school for teacher training. In 1971, Elbasan established the Aleksandër Xhuvani Higher Educational Institute, which included teacher-training departments and some engineering and economics programs linked to the University of Tirana. On November 12, 1991, the institute became Aleksandër Xhuvani University. It is named after Aleksandër Xhuvani, an Albanian philologist and educator. Website: uniel.edu.al.
