Agios Paisios, Apo ta Farasa ston Ourano (Saint Paisios, From Farasa to Heaven) is a Greek biographical drama about Saint Paisios of Mount Athos. The show aired on Mega Channel in Greece and on Alpha TV Cyprus. It has two seasons and 21 episodes. The first season ran from February 10 to April 7, 2022, and the second season from January 24 to April 13, 2025. Filming took place in places linked to Saint Paisios’ life, including Konitsa, Mount Sinai, and Mount Athos.
The series stars actors such as Nikitas Tsakiroglou, Smaragda Smyrnaiou, Dimitris Xanthopoulos, Dimitris Imellos, Prokopis Agathokleous, and Christina Pavlidou.
The story follows the life of Saint Paisios. He was born Arsenios Eznepidis in Farasa, Cappadocia, and was baptized by Saint Arsenios the Cappadocian, receiving the name Arsenios. After the Treaty of Lausanne, his family moved to Greece, first to Corfu and then to Konitsa, Epirus. He grew up with a strong faith and a wish to become a monk. In 1945 he joined the army as a radio operator. After leaving the army, he visited Mount Athos, and in March 1953 he went there permanently. He stayed at the Esphigmenou Monastery and later at the Philotheou Monastery, where he became a monk and took the name Paisios. He even sent a photograph to his mother saying that the Virgin Mary would be his mother.
