European route E40
European route E40 is the longest road in the International E-road network. It runs from Calais, France to Ridder, Kazakhstan near the Russia–China region, covering 8,641 km (5,369 miles).
Countries it passes through: France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
West end: Calais, France. East end: Ridder, Kazakhstan.

Note on politics: since 2014, parts of the road in eastern Ukraine have been controlled by separatist groups. During Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Russia took control of areas in Donbas.
