Richard L. Gregg
Richard L. "Dick" Gregg is a long‑time U.S. Treasury official who served as Fiscal Assistant Secretary of the Treasury from May 12, 2010, to June 30, 2014.
Gregg grew up in Harrold, South Dakota. He earned a B.S. in political science from the University of South Dakota in 1969 and joined the Treasury Department in 1970. He also earned an M.S. in public administration from George Washington University in 1971 and a J.D. from GWU Law School in 1977.
He held several key roles at Treasury. He was Deputy Commissioner of Public Debt from 1981 to 1987, then Commissioner of Public Debt from 1987 to 1997. From 1997 to 2006, he served as Commissioner of the Financial Management Service. He retired from the Treasury in 2006.
In 2010, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner named Gregg Fiscal Assistant Secretary, a position he held until 2014.
