Afgan, born Afgansyah Reza on 27 May 1989 in Jakarta, Indonesia, is a popular Indonesian singer and actor. He comes from a Muslim Minangkabau family and did not have formal vocal training. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Monash University Malaysia.

His music career began in 2007 after a private recording at Wanna B Instant Recording Studio impressed producers, who offered him a contract. His debut album Confession No.1 blended jazz, pop, and R&B and featured hits like Terima Kasih Cinta. A video for that song was directed by Jose Purnomo.

Afgan started acting in 2009 with the film Bukan Cinta Biasa and sang its soundtrack. He also appeared in Cinta 2 Hati (2010) and contributed to its soundtrack. His second album The One came out in 2010. He performed the Southeast Asian Games theme in 2011. Later albums include Live to Love (2013), Sides (2016), and Dekade (2018).

To celebrate 10 years in music, he staged Dekade concerts in Kuala Lumpur (2018) and Jakarta (2019), both sold out. In 2020 he released the single Tunjukkan with Raisa. He put out the single I’m Sorry in February 2021 and his first global album Wallflower in April 2021. In 2022 he shifted toward an R&B style with tracks like So Wrong But So Right and Ku Dengannya Kau Dengan Dia. He performed at the Java Jazz Festival in 2024 with Bebi Romeo.

Awards and recognition: He won Best Solo Male Vocalist at the 2009 Anugerah Musik Indonesia. In 2022, HipHopDX named him as one of 10 Indonesian hip hop and R&B artists to check out.
