Addleshaw Booth & Co
Addleshaw Booth & Co was a Manchester-based English law firm that operated from 1997 to May 1, 2003. It formed when the Leeds firm Booth & Co merged with Manchester’s Addleshaw Sons & Latham. The firm traced its roots to the 18th century and grew into a major northern practice with offices in Leeds and Manchester, serving as official lawyers for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
It was part of the Norton Rose M5 alliance until that group dissolved in 1998. Because it did not establish a strong City of London presence, it merged in 2003 with Theodore Goddard to form Addleshaw Goddard, with many of the new firm’s managers coming from Addleshaw Booth. The merger was seen by many as a takeover.
