Abraham Núñez (outfielder)
Abraham Núñez is a Dominican former Major League Baseball outfielder. He was born on February 5, 1977, in Bajos de Haina, Dominican Republic, and he batted switch and threw right-handed. Núñez made his MLB debut on September 3, 2002, with the Florida Marlins and played his last MLB game on October 3, 2004, with the Kansas City Royals. Over two MLB seasons, he appeared in 136 games, batting .209 with 6 home runs and 35 RBIs.
Beyond MLB, Núñez spent time in the minor leagues with the Washington Nationals’ Triple-A team, the Columbus Clippers, in 2007. He played in Taiwan in 2008 for the Chinatrust Whales, hitting .268 with 3 home runs and 19 RBIs. In May 2006, while with the Fresno Grizzlies, he was suspended for 50 games after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. He finished his professional playing career with Caffè Danesi Nettuno in Italy’s Serie A1 in 2009.
