Ankarsrum
Ankarsrum is a small locality in Västervik Municipality, Kalmar County, in the Småland region of Sweden. It had 1,254 residents in 2010.
History and industry: The name appears in records from about 1430 (Jangolsrwme) and 1544 (Ångersrum). In 1655, the Ankarsrums bruk ironworks was founded in the town. It produced iron goods, including cast-iron kitchen stoves and bathtubs. In 1969, Electrolux bought the ironworks and moved its Assistent mixer production line from Motala to Ankarsrum.
Transport: Ankarsrum can be reached via Swedish national road 40. The town also has a preserved station building on the summer-running Hultsfred–Västervik narrow-gauge railway.
