Chris Gizzi
Chris Gizzi (born March 8, 1975) is a former NFL linebacker and football coach who spent two seasons with the Green Bay Packers and later became their strength and conditioning coordinator. He grew up in Brunswick, Ohio, and attended St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, where he excelled in wrestling and football. Gizzi is of Italian descent; his father is a retired English teacher.
He played college football at the United States Air Force Academy, lettering in 1994, 1996, and 1997. Gizzi was named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 1996 and 1997.
Undrafted in 1998, he signed with the Denver Broncos and spent time on their inactive roster while fulfilling his Air Force obligations. He joined the Green Bay Packers in 2000, appearing in 11 games that season. In 2001 he played 12 games with one start, recording 28 tackles and 1 forced fumble. He is also known for carrying the American flag onto the field for the Packers after the 9/11 attacks and again on the 10-year anniversary in 2011.
After his playing career, Gizzi worked as a strength and conditioning coach. He coached at the University of North Carolina in 2013 and founded Atlas Performance in Chicago in 2010 with his wife, Jennifer Gizzi. He returned to the Packers as a strength and conditioning assistant in 2014, remained in that role through 2018, and was promoted to Strength & Conditioning Coordinator in 2019. Gizzi was released by the Packers on January 25, 2024.
