Abd al-Wahid II, full name Abu Muhammad ar-Rashid Abd al-Wahid ibn al-Ma'mun, was an Almohad caliph who ruled from 1232 to 1242. He was the son of Idris al-Ma'mun and became caliph after his father's death. He could not drive Yahya al-Mu'tasim out of Marrakesh. In 1236, the ruler of Tlemcen declared independence, starting the Zayyanid dynasty. He spent much of his time dealing with rebellions in the southern Sahara, which he crushed by 1239. In 1242 he ordered his governor to stop the Marinids from taking Fez, but he died later that year, found dead in his palace on 4 December, possibly from drowning or a fall. He was succeeded by his brother Abu al-Hasan as-Said al-Mutadid.
