752 Naval Air Squadron
752 Naval Air Squadron (752 NAS) was a Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm training squadron formed in May 1939 at RNAS Ford to train observers for the No. 1 Observer School. It flew aircraft such as the Percival Proctor, Fairey Albacore and De Havilland Tiger Moth.
The squadron later moved to RNAS Lee-on-Solent and, from 1940 to 1945, operated from RNAS Piarco in Trinidad as part of No. 1 Observer School. At Piarco it trained alongside 749 NAS, 750 NAS and 793 AATU.
In January 1941, the passenger liner SS Almeda Star, carrying 142 Fleet Air Arm personnel from 749, 750 and 752, was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-96; all 360 people aboard died.
752 NAS remained at Piarco for the rest of World War II and was disbanded there on 9 October 1945. The squadron operated a small number of aircraft types during its service.
