The 2021–22 Scottish Women's Football Championship was the first season of the SWF Championship, created as the third tier of Scottish women's football after pandemic-related disruptions. The 2020 and 2020–21 seasons were both abandoned because of COVID-19.

The league was split into two divisions: Championship North and Championship South. It was planned to have about 12 teams in each division, but the inaugural season ended up with 9 teams in the North and 17 in the South.

Winners and promotion:
- Championship North: Montrose W.F.C. won the division, beating East Fife 4–1 on April 10 to take the title.
- Championship South: Gartcairn W.F.C. finished top on April 24, ahead of Rossvale.

Promotion to SWPL 2:
- East Fife G.W.F.C. earned promotion to SWPL 2 by winning a single promotion playoff against Rossvale (3–1) on May 8 in Alloa.

Note on playoffs and SWPL:
- A new promotion/relegation playoff system for SWPL was introduced, but East Fife promoted via the playoff, and no team was relegated from SWPL 2 due to the league’s expansion in 2022.

Overall, the season marked the return of competitive play in Scottish women’s football after COVID disruptions and set the stage for future promotions within the SWPL structure.
