Graham Gold
Graham Gold, born 5 July 1954 in London, is a British DJ, producer, and TV presenter. He became famous for live Friday-night sets on Kiss FM, broadcasts that helped the station grow into a major player. He is the father of trance producer Ben Gold.
Gold began DJing at 15 with a mobile disco, the Funky Road Show. He opened the Champers nightclub in 1975, worked with the Royalty team in 1978, and DJed at Gullivers in Mayfair from 1980 to 1989. He also appeared on pirate radio JFM and Radio London Soul Night Out. Kiss FM started in 1990 and Gold hosted the breakfast and chart shows; in 1993 he took over the Friday-night slot that became the station’s signature program, continuing until 2003. In 1993 Peach nightclub opened at Camden Palace Theatre, where Gold was a DJ and front-man, helping launch his international career.
He has performed at major festivals and clubs worldwide and was eight times listed in DJ Magazine’s Top 100. He sold about 700,000 albums, with seven reaching gold status. His Peach residency ended in 2004 when Camden Palace was sold, but he headlined the Peach Camden Palace Reunion in 2014. Beyond DJing, he has done voiceover work for ITV, BBC, and Sky, ran a Peach label for Pete Waterman in 1995, and presented the ITV show BPM. He now lives in Ko Pha-ngan, Thailand, where he DJs at local venues and hosts the Trancedayze radio show.
