2021 Rally de Portugal
The 2021 Rally de Portugal was the 54th running of the event and round four of the 2021 World Rally Championship (WRC). It also counted for the WRC-2, WRC-3, and the Junior World Rally Championship. The rally took place from May 20–23, 2021 and was based in Matosinhos, in the Porto District, Portugal. It was the season’s first gravel round, with 20 stages covering 337.51 km of competitive distance on gravel roads, plus transport distances.
Winners and key results
- World Rally Cars: Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin won for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT. Dani Sordo and Borja Rozada finished second for Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT, and Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia were third for Toyota. Ott Tänak won the Power Stage for extra points.
- WRC-2: Esapekka Lappi and Janne Ferm won for Movisport in a Škoda Fabia R5 Evo.
- WRC-3: Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak won for Kajetanowicz in a Škoda Fabia R5 Evo.
- Junior WRC: Mārtiņš Sesks and Francis Renars won for the LMT Autosporta Akademija in a Ford Fiesta Rally4.
Participation and results
- 81 entries were registered, 76 started, and 44 finished the rally.
Background
- Before the event, Sébastien Ogier led the drivers’ standings by eight points over Thierry Neuville, with Toyota leading the manufacturers’ standings.
