The 2020 AutoZone Liberty Bowl was played on December 31, 2020, at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. Kickoff was at 4:00 p.m. EST (3:00 p.m. local CST). It was the 62nd Liberty Bowl and part of the 2020–21 bowl games ending the 2020 season.

West Virginia Mountaineers of the Big 12 (5–4) faced Army Black Knights, an independent with a 9–2 record. West Virginia was coached by Neal Brown, and Army was coached by Jeff Monken. The game was originally set to feature Tennessee, but the Volunteers withdrew after positive COVID-19 tests, and Army, who had been invited to the Independence Bowl before it was canceled, was brought in as their replacement.

West Virginia won the game 24–21. Tyhier Tyler of West Virginia tied the Liberty Bowl record with three rushing touchdowns. Attendance was 8,187, and the game was broadcast on ESPN and ESPN Radio.

Additional notes: West Virginia had previously appeared in the Liberty Bowl in 1964 and 2014 and last won a bowl game in the 2016 Cactus Bowl. Army’s last bowl win before this game was the 2018 Armed Forces Bowl; this was Army’s first Liberty Bowl appearance. The game’s referee was Stuart Mullins (ACC). West Virginia was listed as the favorite by 9.5 points.
