Events of 2019 in Lithuania: On March 27, the Vilnius Regional Court found Dmitry Yazov, the Soviet Union's last defense minister, guilty of war crimes for his role in the January 13, 1991 crackdown on Lithuania's move toward independence. Yazov was 94 years old.
