Ministry of Tourism, Forests and Environment (Koshi Province)
The Ministry of Tourism, Forests and Environment is a government body of Koshi Province. It was formed on 15 February 2018 and is based in Biratnagar, Morang District. It oversees tourism, forests, environment, climate change, and biodiversity, working to balance conservation with sustainable development. The current minister is Hikmat Kumar Karki and the secretary is Bishal Ghimire.
Koshi Province is one of seven provinces in Nepal. After Nepal adopted a federal system, the provincial government was formed in 2018. In February 2022, the original Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment was split into three ministries: Forests, Environment and Soil Conservation; Industry, Labour and Employment; and Culture and Tourism. In January 2023, the cabinet renamed the department to the Ministry of Tourism, Forests and Environment.
