2019 Tendring District Council election
The 2019 Tendring District Council election was held on 2 May 2019 to elect councillors for Tendring, England. The council size had been reduced from 60 seats to 48 due to ward boundary changes that took effect for this election. Because a candidate died, the election in St Osyth’s ward was delayed and took place on 23 May 2019.
Result in brief:
- No party won overall control of the council; it stayed under no overall control.
Seat distribution (48 seats total):
- Conservative: 16 seats ( fell from 23 in 2015, a loss of 7)
- Independent: 11 seats ( up 5)
- Labour: 6 seats ( up 2)
- UKIP: 5 seats ( down from 22 in 2015)
- Tendring First: 4 seats ( up 3)
- Holland Residents: 3 seats ( no change)
- Liberal Democrats: 2 seats ( up 1)
- Foundation: 1 seat ( new or had 0 previously)

- Conservative vote share: 33.2%
- Independent vote share: 20.7%
- Labour vote share: 14.0%
- UKIP vote share: 5.0%
- Tendring First vote share: 5.6%
- Holland Residents vote share: 4.5%
- Liberal Democrats vote share: 12.5%
- Foundation vote share: 0.6%
Overall, the election resulted in a fragmented council with no single party in control.
