Floridians FC
Floridians Football Club (FFC) was a soccer team based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They competed in the Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of American soccer, in the Southeast Division of the Southern Conference. Home games were played at the Main Event Field at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida, which has a capacity of about 20,000. The club existed from 2009 to 2016 and was owned by Pascal Cohen and Franck Gotsman.
In 2009, Schulz Academy announced a PDL expansion franchise and joined the league in 2010. After founder Josef Schulz passed away, the academy resumed its soccer program but the PDL franchise was taken over by Floridians FC. Floridians FC played its first competitive game on May 7, 2010, a 0–1 loss to Bradenton Academics, and the team was coached by Schulz.
Notable players who developed at the club include Matt Luzunaris, Hasani Sinclair, and CJ Phelps (U18 US MNT); Donovan Henry, Zach Herold, and Stefan Jerome (US U17 MNT); and Jozy Altidore, who played for the US national team and Toronto FC.
The Floridians FC name continued until the club dissolved in 2016.
