Volume 25 (12 Wheat.) of United States Reports collects Supreme Court decisions from 1827. After the U.S. Reports were created in 1874, older case reports were re-numbered, so these cases have dual citations: 25 U.S. (12 Wheat.) and the corresponding volume of Wheaton’s Reports.

Key facts:
- The Reporter of Decisions for this period was Henry Wheaton (1816–1827), covering U.S. Reports volumes 14–25 (which are volumes 1–12 of Wheaton’s Reports).
- The Supreme Court at that time had seven justices, including the Chief Justice.
- A notable case in this volume is Ogden v. Saunders, 25 U.S. (12 Wheat.) 213 (1827), which discussed the relationship between a bankruptcy law and the Constitution and produced multiple opinions from the justices.
- The federal court system then included District Courts (general trial courts), Circuit Courts (mixed trial and appellate), and the Supreme Court (appellate over federal courts and limited original jurisdiction).
- Courts covered all states and territories, with federal districts and circuits in each region.
- Bluebook style is used for citing cases with names, citations, and jurisdictions.
